Retirement Planning Services is led by Gerald A. Cannizzaro, president.Mr. Cannizzaro has more than 40 years of general investment experience, including over 30 years as a financial planner.

His investment experience includes:

Mr. Cannizzaro also is an expert in the Federal Retirement System and Federal Benefits plans, and has assisted many Federal employees in preparing for retirement.  A Registered Investment Advisor for Virginia and the District of Columbia and exempt in Maryland, Mr. Cannizzaro holds an M.B.A. in Marketing and Finance from Columbia University Business School in New York, New York, and a B.S. in Psychology from Villanova University, Villanova, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Cannizzaro has served as a financial analyst with various Federal Government agencies. While with the Federal Government he:
  • Served as an investment advisor to government trust funds
  • Developed and taught courses in various financial subjects, including the risk management area
  • Worked as an industrial security analyst tor the transportation industry while with the US Government and as a security analyst for a regional brokerage firm
Mr. Cannizzaro is cited regularly in major media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Wall Street Journal Online, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Baltimore Sun, Kiplinger Personal Finance Magazine, Bloomberg, Parents Magazine, Northern Virginia Magazine, Redbook, MSNBC, TBD TV [News Channel 8],  “Your Money” hosted by Professor Kent Smetters (Business Radio Channel, SiriusXM 111), TV Tokyo, and the Federal News Radio.(Selected Media Citations)

Mr. Cannizzaro has taught classes in various financial planning, investment and personal finance subjects over the last 14 years. He conducts an average of 75 seminars per year in retirement planning, personal finance, and mid-career planning. He has taught at the USDA Graduate School (Washington, DC), the Fairfax County Adult Education Program, and currently regularly teaches for the National Institute of Transition Planning (NITP) and the Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) Adult Education Program at their Annandale Campus.  He has also been a guest lecturer at the University of Maryland (College Park), Howard University in Washington, DC and various Federal Agency Conferences. Mr. Cannizzaro is a frequent speaker at national and local professional conferences and is a Master Financial Education Volunteer with the Virginia Cooperative Extension in Arlington County, Virginia. He was nominated by USDA for its Faculty Excellence Award in 2004.
